From, "Leslie Local," April 23, 1880, page 1, col 4: "Philo Abbey, of Rives, died on Tuesday morning, of disease of the heart. He had been ill for some time, but immediate death was not anticipated, and he was in town on Thursday of last week. The funeral took place at the residence of deceased on Wednesday, under the supervision of Foster Lodge, No 95 I.O.O.F. of which he was a past officer.
