The Genealogical Record of the Barnum Family, which confuses his brother Albert with a child of Elijah Barnum (1786-1864), son of Jehiel, also shows an Ormel Barnum as the son of that other Elijah.
From the Saint Lawrence Republican and General Advertiser, Saint Lawrence County, New York, 30 Mar 1847: Josiah Waid is sheriff and the following is a list of his deputies in the different areas of the county: Rollin C. Jackson, Canton; O.G. Barnum, Gouverneur; Otis Farrar, Lawrence; Col. John Thomas, Madrid village; S. Wheeler. Waddington; Martin P. Crowley, Massena; P.V. Lankton (undersheriff), Ogdensburg, Silas Hickock, Potsdam.
