From the Journal and Republican, Lowville, NY, May 16, 1912: Denmark, New York- George Barnum another lifelong resident of this town, passed away May 11th at his home near Denmark village, after a long and painful illness, at the age of 80 years. Mr. Barnum was the son of the late Ira Barnum and was born on the East road in this town. He was a farmer by occupation and for years raised small fruits for marketing until failing health deprived him from work. He is survived by his widow, one brother Milo Barnum of Deer River and one sister, Mrs. G. Hufcut of Denmark, NY. Their two children, a son and daughter, died several years ago. His funeral was held from his late home on Tuesday, Rev. J. E. Sweet officiating. Interment was made in Hillside Cemetery.
