Descendant Dale H. Howard gives his birth date as 28 Feb 1808.
The town of Sand Lake was formed from Greenbush and Berlin on June 19, 1812. The first church in the town was erected by the Lutherans in the earliest days of the town, and was built of logs. It was taken down in 1816 and removed to the hamlet of West Sand Lake, where it has since been known as the First Lutheran Church of West Sand Lake.
