From The Bridgeport Post, Bridgeport, Connecticut, May 29, 1964: Bethel, May 29—Mrs. Bertha Beard Sturtevant, 99, of Greenwood Avenue died last night in Danbury Hospital. Burial will be in Bethel Center Cemetery.
A lifelong resident of Bethel, Mrs. Sturtevant was a member of the Congregational Church and the DAR. She was a life member and past matron of Cincinnatus Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Great Barrington, Massachusetts, and a past Grand Marshal of the Massachusetts Grand Chapter, OES. She is a graduate of Danbury Normal school and taught in Bethel schools several years. Survivors area son, William B. Sturtevant of Washington, D.C.; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth S. Naasof Hartford; a brother, Theodore H. Beard of Easton and two grandchildren.
