who owns two antique spinning wheels marked "S. Barnum." It is possible that these spinning wheels were made by Silas Barnum. An interesting sidelight here is that John Sturdevant, Jr. (1760-?) lived in Litchfield County, Connecticut and was also a spinning wheel maker. His first wife was Sarah Barnum (1762-1815), a sister of Silas. Since Silas Barnum and John Sturdevant both made spinning wheels and Silas Barnum's home in New Fairfield is quite close to Bridgewater and New Milford, where John Sturdevant lived and worked, it seems possible that there was a connection between the two men.
