From The London Gazette, Friday, November 23, 1894: Foreign Office, October 4, 1894. The Queen has been graciously pleased to appoint Henry Dudley Barnham, Esq., to be Her Majesty's Consul for the Vilayets of Aleppo and Adana, to reside at Aleppo.

Though Mulla Nasreddin originated in the Middle East half a millennia ago, the popularity of his stories is such that they have traveled and settled down in places as diverse as China, Russia, Sweden, India, Malaysia, the Balkans and Portugal.
