Troy Record, Troy, N.Y., June 18, 1954: Luther C. Barnum of 523 7th Avenue, an employee at the Mt. Ida plant of the John A. Manning Paper Co. died suddenly while at work at the mill about 7:30 am yesterday…Coroner Thomas Styles gave a decision of death due to natural causes and said death resulted from a heart attack. Mr. Barnum was a native of this county and had resided here all of his life. He was a member of the Ninth Presbyterian Church and of Local 228, International Union of Operating Engineers. Survivors are his widow the former Jennie Ross; two brothers, Allan Barnum and Lt. Col. Edward F. Barnum of Joliet, Illinois. Interment in the family plot in Oakwood Cemetery.
