[Note: in the 1841 census the birthdate of Thomas is estimated as 1786 and that of Sarah as 1796, while in the 1851 census their birth years were estimated as 1782 and 1794, respectively. The differences might be attributable to errors by the census taker, incorrect age estimates given by family members other than Thomas or Sarah, or age differences due to the relationship between the months of the census and the months of their respective birthdates].

Thomas lived at Manor Farm, Teddington which was attached to "The Old House". The Old House, or Queen Elizabeth's Hunting Lodge, was on the site of Udney Park Road. It is said to have been built in 1565.
